"Having family in L.A., I have wanted to visit the tar pits for a while, but for one reason or another I haven’t made it there. Finally, this year I went and had a great couple of hours exploring! I started in the museum which has lots of skeletons on display and lots of information. I liked the size of the museum, it wasn’t huge and overwhelming, but the perfect size to give you an understanding of the place and the various animals they have found. Then, I spent about an hour walking the grounds. This is the coolest part as you get to see several actual tar pits! I especially liked the ones that you could watch bubbling. Great place to visit while in L.A.!"

"It's dirty and littered with street hustlers (people in costumes, guys with snakes, etc) in all of it's Hollywood glory. It's cool to see once, but it isn't something you need to see repeatedly."

"It’s free! The best way to go to the Observatory is via a tour. This is because it is very busy and parking is a nightmare. Vehicles line the road up to the Observatory whereas the tour vehicles are allowed to drop off their customers at the top and pick up from the same place. The Observatory is free to enter. There are exhibitions of various aspects of our solar system and much more. There is a Planetarium which runs regular shows for which you need to purchase a ticket. Toilet facilities onsite along with a cafe and gift shop. Outside, if the weather is good, you get stunning views of LA below you. The other big draw is you are able to see the famous ‘Hollywood’ sign from here. Overall it’s a good place to visit and should be on your list of places to see when staying in LA."

"Terrible! The girls at the entrance behind the ticket counters are highly rude and disrespectful to people. Such young girls shouldn't be working in these environments. Specifically, the girl on the left of the Candy Shop was very rude; she was laughing at the people entering, and also at me, without any respect. She was making discriminatory faces, even involving a security guard who was nearby, so they could laugh together behind our backs... When I approached to ask why, she answered very vulgarly and arrogantly. Is this your vision of Hollywood? To discriminate and be racist towards people? I'm sorry, but you don't behave this way; learn to be respectful and hire people who respect others..."
