Whenever I think about habitats where I might find lizards, the first places where I would begin my search would be on the ground and underneath rocks, leaf litter, and/or other surface debris.
The rose-bellied lizard (sceloporus variabilis) is one variety of 10 species of spiny lizards that reside here in Texas, although unlike a few others of its genus it is rather limited in distribution.
