With a short turnaround time, the backgrounds were photographs and the animated shapes were made of Pantone paper taped on cels. Sesame Street got the idea from Huey Lewis and the News’ song “Hip to be Square”. The result is a colorful and fun parody animation with characters that really “pop”!
