This method of keeping plants is called semi-hydro. Im using lava rocks here, which are porous and wick up moisture- providing water to the roots nestled in the rocks. This method requires water at all times in the vessel so that the rocks are always wet. The aiflow between the rocks provides plenty of oxygen to prevent root rot.
