The evaporator coil is what we call the heat absorber. It picks up heat from inside the space as the air flows over the evaporator coil and it drops the temperature of the air before it blows it back into space. So it acts as almost a heat sink or it grabs the heat into that boiling refrigerant as it is low temperature, low pressure, expanding through that evaporator coil.
